Al Tawoon Iraq Hypermarket

Location: Baghdad, Iraq

About the Project

Al Tawoon is a government-backed hypermarket chain launched in September 2024, with its first branch opening in the Al-Bayaa district. The network was established with the goal of offering essential goods at prices up to 20% below market rates.

The grand opening was held by Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Sudani, who simultaneously launched six stores across the districts of Al-Hurriya, Al-Salihiya, Al-Shaab, Palestine Street, and Jamila. The initiative plans to expand to 150 hypermarkets across the country.

Project Scale

Currently, 7 branches are operating in Baghdad with 23 more in the process of opening nationwide. Each hypermarket features 36 checkout lanes, ample parking, and a wide product range including fresh meat, dairy, beverages, and groceries. At least 60% of all products are locally manufactured.

Abdin’s Role

Abdin Industrial supplied and installed the full commercial refrigeration package across the hypermarket, including multi-door refrigerated display units, open chilled shelving for beverages, and fresh meat service counters.
